Welcome to another spectacular day in Playa del Carmen and the Mayakoba Resort. For round one at the Mayakoba Golf Classic I walked the course with my good friend Robert Gamez. This was the first time I had the opportunity to walk the entire course and there are some spectacular views at the El Camaleon Golf Club. My favorite hole of the day was the par 3 15th hole, which is a relatively short hole, but has unbelievable views of the water down the right side of the hole. On a separate note, I did have one fall which occurred on the cart path on the third hole.
Tonight for dinner, I experienced something for the first time. We asked the front desk at our hotel to give us a recommendation for a pizza place, the owner of the pizza came to our hotel and picked us up and then drove us to a Mexican restaurant. We found out that the owner of the pizza place, his wife runs a Mexican restaurant and the pizza place has no seating. We were told what people tend to do is order pizza from the husband's pizza place and they sit and eat at the wife's Mexican restaurant. For dinner we actually had a Mexican cheese and sausage appetizer then we placed a pizza order. The name of this Mexican restaurant is Restaurante Cactus and is located on 30th Avenue. The food at this restaurant is very good and the service was excellent. Tonight was the first I had ordered a meal from two separate restaurants during the same meal. Tonight's dinner experience was neat because both restaurants are owned by the same family and I would definitely recommend a visit to Restaurante Cactus when you visit Playa del Carmen as the food was good and the service was excellent.
