Last year I attended the Accenture Match Play Championship and this year I am excited to be here at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Tuesday was a travel day and my first trip to Cancun. From the moment we arrived at the airport the staff and volunteers have been extremely friendly and helpful. Today was a Chamber of Commerce weather day with temperatures in the low 80’s and plenty of sunshine. Early in the afternoon my Dad and I went to Mayakoba and we were able to see a few of the holes at the El Camaleon Golf Club and the course looks to be in great shape and I’m looking forward to walking this course and seeing some spectacular views during the journey this week.
Tonight my Dad and I had the privilege to attend the Pro-Am pairings party which was held at the Pueblito at the Mayakoba Resort, this was a most enjoyable night as it allowed me to catch up with my friend Olin Browne who I followed at the Frys.com open in 2008. At the end of the evening we happened to be in the same shuttle with D.A. and Lori Points who I first met at Pebble Beach last year and I also had the opportunity to meet Brendon Todd and his fiancé Rachel Moore, I would like to congratulate Rachel and Brendon as they will be getting married in two weeks. I had a great first day at Mayakoba and I’m looking forward to a memorable week.
