Former prizefighter played eight full seasons on the PGA TOUR (1994, 1998-2004) earning more than $3.5 million. Two-time representative of México at the World Golf Championships-World Cup, including a T8 in 2006.
The 2005 PLAYERS Champoinship winner turned in an impressive performance in his second Champions Tour appearance of the season, rolling to a record 11-stroke victory at the Turtle Bay Championship. Led wire-to-wire and played bogey-free golf over the three days. Fired rounds of 65-64-64 and his 11-stroke margin erased the previous mark of nine strokes by three players, the most recent being Dave Stockton at the 1993 Franklin Quest Championship.
Eight players - Mark Calcavecchia (1989 British Open), Steve Elkington (1995 PGA Championship), Steve Jones (1996 U.S. Open), Bob Tway (1986 PGA Championship), Jeff Sluman (1988 PGA Championship), Mark Brooks (1996 PGA Championship), Larry Mize (1987 Masters) and Lee Janzen (1993 and 1998 U.S. Open) - have combined for nine major titles.
Two-time PGA TOUR winner Vaughn Taylor represented the United States at the Ryder Cup in Ireland in 2006.
Five rookies rank among the top 50 in the FedExCup standings through seven events.
18th - Brandt Snedeker - In third start as a member, rookie tied the Torrey Pines North Course record with an 11-under-par 61 in the first round of the Buick Invitational. The 9-under-par 27 on his first nine holes (Nos. 10-18) tied the PGA TOUR record for most strokes under par for nine holes (Billy Mayfair, 2001 Buick Open; and Robert Gamez, 2004 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic). Also held the second-round lead and shared the 54-hole lead with Andrew Buckle. Finished solo third, three strokes behind Tiger Woods.
29th - Andrew Buckle - 24-year-old Australian shared the 54-hole lead with Brandt Snedeker at the Buick Invitational, and held the outright lead by two at one point during the final round, but was overcome by Tiger Woods over the final nine holes. Finished T4. A member of the 2006 Nationwide Tour graduating class.
39th - Doug LaBelle II -- In first career start as a PGA TOUR member, rookie posted rounds of 66-65 on the weekend to finish T4 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, five shots behind champion Paul Goydos. It was his first cut made in fourth career starts on TOUR.
Four players in the field are sons of TOUR players: Guy Boros, Brent Geiberger, Bill Haas and Kevin Stadler. Tommy Armour III is the grandson of World Golf Hall of Famer Tommy Armour.
