Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic, the only event on the AJGA schedule held in México, was a 54-hole stroke play event held at El Camaleón Golf Club. The field consisted of 76 players, of which 27 were from México. The rest came from eight U.S. states. El Camaleón Golf Club, home to the PGA TOUR's Mayakoba Golf Classic, was played as a 6,940 yard par-70 in the Boys Division and a 6,003 yard par-71 in the Girls Division.

Burlison, who led by one stroke after the second round, finished his round with two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey to earn his first AJGA victory. The win for Burlison comes in his first AJGA Open event.

"I started out slow, I was a little nervous out there," Burlison said. "But I was able to calm down after my birdie on No. 6 and got another one on No. 11 and those helped me fight off the nerves. I played it safe on the rest of the holes and it's exciting to get my first win."

Seiji Liu of Bradenton, Fla., finished second with a 9-over-par 219. Marshall Talkington of Jackson, Tenn., finished in third place with a 10-over-par 220. Carlos Ortiz of Zapopan, México, took fourth place with a three-day total 223. Gregory Rochna of Houston, Chris Contreras of San Antonio and Austin Roberts of Carmichael, Calif., all finished tied for fifth at 14-over-par 224.

Lewis' win is also her first in an AJGA tournament after finishing in the top 10 eight times in her career. She struggled early, starting with a bogey and a double bogey on Nos. 1 and 2, but improved her game after that, staying consistent enough to end up on top.

Lewis finished with a three-day total of 8-over-par 221 to win the Girls Division.

"Every part of my game was just decent, nothing special today," Lewis said. "I was able to hold it together and make some putts when I needed to and that's what matters. [This win] is just a great way to end the summer and it feels amazing to finally win in the AJGA after being so close so many times."

Katelyn Sepmoree of Tyler, Texas, took second with a three-day total of 9-over-par 222. Finishing in third place was Paola Valerio of Atizapan De Zaragoza, México, with a 10-over-par 223.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic made golf history when it became the first PGA TOUR event to ever be contested outside of the United States and Canada in February 2007. Today, the Mayakoba Golf Classic remains “Mexico’s Only PGA TOUR Event” as it prepares to enter its sixth year. The event is regarded as one of the finest on the PGA TOUR by players, their families, sponsors and the TOUR itself. With a purse of $3.7 million USD, the Mayakoba Golf Classic boasts the largest amount of prize money of any golf tournament in Latin America. Held annually in February, the tournament features 132 professional golfers participating in four rounds of stroke play competition at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón Golf Club at Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, in the Riviera Maya-Cancún regions of Mexico. Johnson Wagner, a five-year veteran of the PGA TOUR, claimed the title in 2011, winning $666,000 USD. Other past champions include: Fred Funk (2007), Brian Gay (2008), Mark Wilson (2009) and Cameron Beckman (2010).

Based in Madrid, OHL has over 23,000 employees and an impressive average yearly growth rate of 20% since 2002. In the third quarter of 2010, its net sales amounted to over 3,4 billion Euros. At the same time, OHL is strongly committed to environmental responsibility and in 2003 produced its first Sustainable Development Report. OHL's ecological diligence has served it well in México, where strong government regulations are enforced to protect the environment. A presence in México since 1980, OHL employs over 3,400 people there and has built highways, bridges, hotels and hospitals. The tourism complex at Mayakoba, which will eventually include two or three golf courses and six luxury hotels, is OHL's most ambitious hospitality project to date.

El Camaleón Golf Club at the Mayakoba resort is yet another of Greg Norman’s masterworks. The 7,039-yard layout is unique - not just to Mexico but to the entire world of golf. The course bends through three distinct landscapes—mangrove jungles, limestone canals and stunning, oceanfront stretches of sand. El Camaleón incorporates a cenote, a massive underground cavern, into the heart of the opening fairway. The handsome, Mayan influenced clubhouse rises above the 18th green and features stunning views over the course.  The adjoining practice facility and driving range are of international caliber.  With Mayakoba’s unique system of lagoons, golfers will be able to step out of their rooms and into a boat, which will ferry them directly to the first tee. El Camaleón is managed by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
