Golf PARa Todos Launches With Tremendous Success And Support

With rave reviews from all involved, the first installment of the Mayakoba Golf Classic's community golf program, Golf PARa Todos, was a smashing success. Sunday, October 7, saw nearly 300 attendees take to the practice facilities of El Camaleón Golf Club for a day of "Golf FORE Everyone."

Participants had the chance to snap a photo in 2007 Champion Fred Funk's image with the MGC trophy.

The birth of the new event is part of the Mayakoba Golf Classic's efforts to grow the game of golf among the residents of Playa del Carmen, Cancún and all of Quintana Roo. Aiming to create a fun-filled, diverse and educational program for people of all ages, Golf PARa Todos teaches about the region's fastest-growing sport and allows participants to enjoy the company of family and friends while breaking down the barriers that surround golf.

Held at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón, the October edition of Golf PARa Todos began in earnest after a slight delay caused by a brief rain shower. The driving range was packed with first-timers, high-handicap golfers and a few seasoned veterans. Junior golfers even had their own area of the driving range where they were able to practice and receive instruction using specially-designed SNAG junior golf equipment.

Other activities of the afternoon included instruction from several golf professionals, a spectacular taco buffet, putting and chipping contests, an area of education about golf basics and golf history, the chance to snap a photo in 2007 Champion Fred Funk's image with the MGC trophy and a great raffle with plenty of prizes. Lucky winners took home MGC hats, golf balls, MGC umbrellas, Greg Norman Collection golf shirts, gift packages from General Nutrition Center, Greg Norman Estates wine and the grand prizes of complimentary rounds of golf at El Camaleón.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the November edition of Golf PARa Todos, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 10, at 3 p.m. again at El Camaleón at Mayakoba.
