 | Congratulations Mark Wilson, 2009 MGC Champion! |
|
Mark Wilson didn't come to México for vacation, he came to work. Although his job took him to Mayakoba, México's top resort, and he stayed at a hotel near the beach, never once during the Mayakoba Golf Classic did he hear any mariachis play.
Not until the eight guys in sombreros and matching cream-colored suits were playing in his honor.
The co-leader after the second and third rounds, Wilson went ahead for good on the second hole of the final round, then held on through dark clouds and wild winds over the back nine to secure the win and the $648,000 USD check.
Wilson shot a final-round 68 and finished at 13-under-par 267, two stokes ahead of second-place finisher J.J. Henry. The win at the Mayakoba Golf Classic marks Wilson's second career PGA TOUR victory; he previously won the 2007 Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The Mayakoba Golf Classic looks forward to a great year with Mark Wilson representing the event as its defending champion! Be sure to follow Mark all season long as he looks to build on his success.
