 | Congratulations Mark Wilson! 2009 MGC Champ Wins His Third Career PGA TOUR Title |
|
|
(article courtesy of PGATOUR.com)
It took 36 holes on Sunday, but 2009 Mayakoba Golf Classic champion Mark Wilson got his third career victory Sunday at the PGA TOUR Sony Open in Hawaii, where he finished two shots ahead of Tim Clark and Steve Marino.
How good was Wilson on a marathon day of golf? He didn’t make a single bogey over his final two rounds, shooting 65-67 to finish at 16 under for the week.
Due to inclement weather earlier in the week, PGA TOUR officials adjusted the schedule to assure an on-time completion of the event on time—Sunday saw the players competing in two rounds.
For the week, Wilson was second in the field in driving accuracy and fourth in putting. Those are the kind of numbers that win at Waialae Country Club and that’s what Wilson did despite a final-round charge from Clark, who was 6 under over his final 18 holes.
Wilson made a birdie putt from a few feet to seal the victory, his first since his 2009 triumph here at Mayakoba.
Visit PGATOUR.com for more coverage of Mark’s win. And visit here to send Mark a congratulatory message and tell him you look forward to seeing him here at Mayakoba next month!
