The Mayakoba Golf Classic invites you and your family and friends to join us Sunday, November 8, at 2 p.m. at El Camaleón Golf Club in Mayakoba for Golf PARa Todos.

Mark Wilson, PGA TOUR pro and champion of the 2009 Mayakoba Golf Classic, will be in attendance and you will have the opportunity to meet and greet the champ! Autographs and photo opportunities will be available for all.

Participants can learn golf in group and individual classes for both adults and children. Enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Yaxche Maya Cuisine, a Distinguished Restaurant of North America. Participate in the raffle and win surprise prizes. All while helping the growth and development of golf in México!

Remember the Amigos of Golf PARa Todos are ready and available to help you as you get started with this beautiful and fun sport! Several volunteers donate their time each month to staff Golf PARa Todos and share the experience, knowledge and excitement for golf with you!

Golf PARa Todos aims to create a fun-filled, diverse and educational program that teaches about the game of golf and its ideals. The program encourages active participation in the game as a participant and as a fan, and facilitates the integration of golf into the lives of all those within the community.

The program is free and is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. No previous knowledge of golf is necessary.

El Camaleón Golf Club is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in all of México, but another aspect of the facility makes it even more special.

Like the entire Mayakoba complex, El Camaleón is committed to sustainable development and causing minimal impact on the surrounding environment and ecosystem. Several special maintenance practices are implemented by golf course superintendent Peter Stormes to ensure that El Camaleón holds true to that vision of sustainable development.

Many are taking notice of El Camaleón’s commitment to the environment as several awards, accolades and honors have been bestowed upon the course including the designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” by Audubon International. In order to be certified as such, a golf course must demonstrate it maintains a high degree of environmental quality in many areas of operation such as environmental planning, wildlife & habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, water quality management and more. El Camaleón is one of only two golf courses in Mexico to receive this honor.

The efforts put forth by El Camaleón’s maintenance staff are proving successful when judged by the wide variety of wildlife that calls the golf course home—it’s common to see iguanas, crocodiles, cormorant, stork and much more during a round at the home of México’s Only PGA TOUR Event.

The 2010 Mayakoba Golf Classic is rapidly approaching with slightly more than 100 days to go before the pros return to Mayakoba to tee it up in México’s Only PGA TOUR Event.

Among the major tasks currently underway is the organization of this year’s team of Ambassadors who will staff and help operate the event. If you are interested in participating, now is your chance to sign up and reserve your spot. All Ambassadors receive a complimentary gift package which includes a Greg Norman Collection golf shirt and hat and more, as well as food and beverage throughout tournament week. There’s no better opportunity to get up close and personal with the action at the Mayakoba Golf Classic!
